What is the purpose of knowing or experiencing more?

Does there exist a point in life at which one has experienced all they need or want to experience? Should there be that point in life?
I personally think that the world contains vast, inconceivable things out there for each person to discover, explore, find meaning in, expand their perspective, etc., no matter what stage in life or what one has already experienced. But what is the point of such an endless pursuit of knowledge (does there have to be one)? Are there limitations (besides physical limitations) to what a person can do and experience? Are such limitations self-imposed?
